Fresh fruit and vegetables home delivery

Fresh fruit and vegetables home delivery

If an individual was to fill their basket with a week’s worth of fresh fruit and vegetables before reaching the self checkout, they would be forgiven for hoping that that total cost wouldn’t be astronomical. But alas... £32 and a sunken heart. Further compounded by the requirement of a manual PIN entry into the card machine.

-

Broken hearts aside, fresh produce is and should always be more expensive that it’s frozen counterpart. Each item is in peak condition, often ripe and ready for immediate consumption. That said, it can be relatively expensive to continuously consume food in this state.
-

As this example clearly illustrates, there are opportunities to save money and still benefit from the consumption of such foods. Whilst 300g of fresh raspberries will cost around £4 depending on your place of purchase, the exact same quantity of frozen raspberries will cost significantly less (in this case, less than half the total cost). -
-

Raspberries are the chosen food for this example, but the same applies for a plethora of fruits, mixed fruit combinations and assortments of vegetables. Relaxed examination of frozen aisles in local supermarkets may offer surprisingly lucrative opportunities to purchase frozen fruit & vegetables at a fraction of original cost. A further benefit of frozen fruit & veg is it’s significantly longer shelf life.

Nutritionally, calories in fresh and frozen fruit and vegetables remain virtually the same, whilst nutrients are retained during freezing. But the main aim of this post is to demonstrate how people can purchase and consume nutritious whole foods without spending proportionately large sums of money. Something which, once accumulated, can impact one’s overall financial ability to purchase and consume quality, nutrient dense produce across their overall diet.
